Puede da\u00f1ar la morfolog\u00eda intestinal y causar estr\u00e9s oxidativo hep\u00e1tico a los pollos de engorde, perjudicando finalmente su crecimiento. Estas consecuencias pueden producirse incluso a niveles inferiores al umbral recomendado de 5 mg DON\/kg de alimento (Comisi\u00f3n Europea). Varios estudios con pollos de engorde mostraron que DON provoca una disminuci\u00f3n de la altura de las vellosidades y da\u00f1os intestinales a niveles tan bajos como 1,9 mg\/kg. Un grupo no recibi\u00f3 el descontaminante (grupo de control) y el otro grupo recibi\u00f3 el descontaminante a base de algoclay a 2,5 g\/kg de pienso (grupo MT.X+\u00ae). Se tomaron muestras de sangre seriadas para medir los niveles plasm\u00e1ticos de DON-3S (DON-3-sulfato, principal metabolito de DON en aves), OTA y AFB1. MT.X+<sup>\u00ae<\/sup>\u00a0redujo la exposici\u00f3n a DON de los pollos. Concentraci\u00f3n plasm\u00e1tica media de DON-3S, principal metabolito de DON, en el tiempo luego de la administraci\u00f3n de un bolo oral con DON (0.5 mg\/kg PC).<\/em>[\/vc_column_text][vc_column_text css=&#8221;&#8221; text_direction=&#8221;default&#8221;]\n<div class=\"wpb_text_column wpb_content_element \">\n<div class=\"wpb_wrapper\">\n<p>Los resultados mostraron que MT.X+<sup>\u00ae<\/sup>\u00a0redujo significativamente la exposici\u00f3n de los pollos de engorde a la OTA, ya que se encontr\u00f3 un 44% menos de esta micotoxina en sangre. En cuanto a la AFB<sub>1<\/sub>, se observ\u00f3 una reducci\u00f3n mayor, las aves suplementadas con el producto ten\u00edan un 64% menos de AFB<sub>1<\/sub>\u00a0en sangre, en comparaci\u00f3n con las aves control.<\/p>\n<p>En la segunda prueba se utilizaron dos dietas, el grupo Control recibi\u00f3 una dieta marginalmente contaminada con DON (~0,2 mg DON\/kg). La segunda dieta estaba contaminada naturalmente con DON (~3,0 mg DON\/kg) y se administr\u00f3 a dos grupos de pollos. El grupo DON recibi\u00f3 esta dieta sin descontaminantes, y el grupo MT.X+<sup>\u00ae<\/sup>\u00a0recibi\u00f3 el mismo alimento + 2,0 g de MT.X+<sup>\u00ae<\/sup>\/kg de alimento. La exposici\u00f3n diet\u00e9tica a 3 mg\/kg de DON caus\u00f3 da\u00f1os y acortamiento de las vellosidades intestinales. Adem\u00e1s, se produjo estr\u00e9s oxidativo en el h\u00edgado.
