Despu\u00e9s de demostrar que la absorci\u00f3n y metabolizaci\u00f3n var\u00eda entre las micotoxinas y las especies de insectos, Maul se centr\u00f3 en el impacto de la aflatoxina B<sub>1<\/sub>\u00a0(AFB<sub>1<\/sub>) en larvas de gusanos de la harina (Tenebrio molitor). Sin embargo, esta capacidad se ve comprometida cuando la poblaci\u00f3n microbiana se ve afectada, por ejemplo, en caso de acidosis ruminal subaguda. El estudio presentado por Santos explor\u00f3 los efectos en vacas lecheras de una contaminaci\u00f3n natural con deoxinivalenol (DON) y zearalenona (ZEA) en combinaci\u00f3n con una dieta que induce la acidificaci\u00f3n ruminal.<\/p>\n<p>Los resultados muestran que la contaminaci\u00f3n por micotoxinas afect\u00f3 la eficiencia alimenticia de las vacas y disminuy\u00f3 la producci\u00f3n de leche (rendimiento y composici\u00f3n).
